Assignment One
I'm Chad, and I've always loved reading. I've read books for as long as I can remember, and I almost always have a current book I'm reading beyond text books for school. I do like fiction the most, as I enjoy seeing what kinds of stories, places, and characters different authors can create, and see if I can sympathize with these characters and their dilemmas. As I'm sure is the case with most young readers, I read the Lord of the Rings at a fairly early age, and I've been hopelessly hooked on the fantasy genre since. However, this is not to say that I do not enjoy non-fiction, although I am usually fairly picky at what kind of non-fiction that I read.
As far as writing goes, I started writing fan-faction when I was around fifteen, and my previous major was Creative Writing. When I found out that Journalism was going to be offered as a major last semester, I immediately jumped on it. I love the news, interviewing, and writing.
Best case scenario for me would be having a sports writing job in the Boston area. I've always loved that area, and I have many connections there as well. As I mentioned the first day of class, I actually know the family of one of the Red Sox pitchers, Justin Masterson, and I've been able to go down into their dugout to talk to a few of the players and ask them a couple questions. I suppose I must apologize to all the Tigers fans out there, but I just don't feel any loyalty for them, being raised a Sox fan since I was born.
